How to fish jigs for bluegill?

I live on a small lake with basically no summertime bluegill fisherman. The fish come up in shallow water for the day time and then I can sometimes find schools of them deeper in about 15-20ft water when the water gets around 70 degrees. I've seen marabou jigs, blakemore rooster tails and other things, but how do I fish them? Also what are some good soft plastics that bluegill like?
