there is a small fiber pin that pushes the points open and then the spring on the points close them back. you will have to remove the points in order to remove the pin. the pin rides on the crank and the lobe on the crank pushes the pin in and out. some points come with the pin and the aluminum key for the flywheel so you will have to see just what you need. i believe the point setting is 20 thou. the space between the coil and flywheel is set the thickness of a post card, but you should not have to move the coil to replace the points.
