How can God be considered the Perfect Father?

As an admittedly imperfect father I would never accept the loss of one of my children. If they choose to discontinue contact with me that has to be in part due to my lack of parenting skills, so don't give me the "we abandon him line." this is not a rhetorical question. I am truly interested in how this can be explained. What % of his children are cast from his presence?
