Will Venlafaxine HCL 75MG tab revoke probation is it barbiturate or narcotic?

My son is on probation needs to take drug test taking Venlafaxine HCL 75MG Tab not prescribed for him. although prescribed for family member. He is bi-polar has no insurance and cant afford meds for himself. will this provoke probation. need to know difference of barbiturate vs narcotic and what this has to do with it.
